Four can bid on Skagen’s expansion project
There are both Danish and foreign companies as well as consortiums among the four applicants who have been pre qualified to bid on the Stage 3 expansion of the Port of Skagen. There were initially 7 applicants who put in a request of becoming pre qualified to bid on the Stage 3 project of expanding the Port of Skagen.
“We decided on these four applicants primarily because of the references they send us from previous jobs of the same kind. Here, contract value, level of complexity and contemporariness in relation to the comparability with Skagen Havn's forthcoming expansion have been very important factors, "says senior project manager at Cowi A/S, which is the port's construction consultant on the expansion project, Claus Quist Nielsen.
The port has contacted the four approved applicants, who now have to submit their offers by January 10 2019. The four applicants are: the Danish consortium with CG. Jensen A/S as leading company, the Belgian consortium The Skaw JV with N.V. BESIX S.A. as leading company, the Danish entrepreneur Per Aarsleff A / S, and Spanish entrepreneur Obrascón Huarte Lain, S.A.
The expansion project includes establishing a 975 meters new quay with depth of 11-13 meters, and a 190.00 square meter land area. The port has provided the framework for expansion, and the four applicants now have to give their pitch on on how they are going to build a breakwater structure, quay, etc, and name their price and schedule.
After January 10, the Port of Skagen will enter a negotiation round with one or more applicants, and the port expects the final contract to be finalized in the first quarter of 2019.
