Danske Havne happy with new finance act
Danish trade organization Danske Havne is pleased with the fact that a majority in the Danish Parliament has agreed on a finance act that includes several initiatives that will improve the infrastructure in rural areas – and thereby the access to the country’s many commercial ports.
”One of Danske Havne’s most important roles is to create more opportunities with the sea. But people have to be able to sail fast and smoothly to the ports. Therefore we are happy with the new infrastructure projects, which will eventually lighten traffic in some of the ports”, says CEO of Danske Havne, Tine Kirk Pedersen.
If there is one thing about the finance act that the trade organization is not particularly exited about, it is the lack of focus on exploiting the potential of the Blue Motorways, which could reduce traffic on the road network.
”This time around the finance act focuses on the road network. This makes sense, but if we are to deal with the problem in a more serious manner, then we have to discuss all modes of transport.
Therefore, we look forward to working on a long-term plan for Denmark's infrastructure, where we want to focus on the ports and the untapped potential of the sea, "says Tine Kirk Pedersen.
