Royal Arctic gets loan for new ships

Royal Arctic Line has made a deal with German government owned development bank KfW regarding a loan of 30 million euro. The money will finance two new general cargo vessels that are being build for RAL in Zamakona shipyard in Spain. The loan has been secured by a Spanish export credit.

The two 67 meter long ships will be build to sail in the highest ice class conditions and meets the new Polar Code standards. The ships are supplied with DP equipment, its won cranes, and plugs for refrigerated containers.

"We are happy because this loan ensures renewal of Royal Arctic Lineís fleet, a customer of ours through many years. At the same time, the loan makes sure that the people of Greenland get their supplies, "says Executive Board member of KfW, Andreas Ufer.

The bank also financed RALís new 2.150 TEU container ship, which starting from next year, will handle container shipping between Greenland and Denmark
