Christiansų ferry service is on the market
The ferry service between Bornholm and Christiansų has been put on the market. The service is offered for a five-year contract from January 1, 2020 until December 31, 2024. This has been made official on the Danish Ministry of Defense's website.
"The Danish Ministry of Defence will be handling all interest and offerings on the ferry service between Bornholm and Christiansų. The process of collecting offers is in progress and the deadline for the showing interest in the ferry service i October 15, 2018.
Showing interest does not mean you are obliged to put in an offer. It is expected that a new agreement on the ferry service that sails people, freight and goods etc. to and from Christiansų will be ready by the end of January 2019. The terms of the contract will then be set in motion on January 1 2020, "the Danish Ministry of Defence writes.
Back in January 2015, The Danish Ministry of Defence and Christiansoefarten entered into a five-year contract regarding Ertholmene, which included Christiansų. The contract ran for five years and supplied residents of Christiansų a daily ferry service to and from Gudhjem on Bornholm every weekday until the end of 2019.
The Danish Ministry of Defense owns and manages the Ertholmene archipelago, where Christiansų is the largest of the islands. The Ministry is therefore responsible for the all shipment of people and freight to the island.
