Unifeeder sold to DP World for 4,9 bn kr.
Danish shipping company Unifeeder has been sold to the port owner company DP World for a sum of 660 million Euros, which is equivalent to 4,9 billion Danish kroner. Unifeeder operates a long list of feeder routes in Europe, while DP World, which is headquartered in Dubai, operates 78 ports on a global scale.
"We have experienced great success over the last five years under the ownership of Nordic Capital, and we believe that Unifeeder, as an independent brand in DP World Group, are able to increase growth and expand further," says Jesper Kristensen, CEO of Unifeeder.
Nordic Capital bought Unifeeder from the British capital fund mantagu in 2013 for approximately 3 billion kroner. Mantagu paid 2 billion kroner for Unifeeder back in 2007 when the capital fond bought the shipping company from its founders Tonny Dalhøj Paulsen and Peter Bohnsen.
"We are happy to have the Unifeeder brand under the DP World umbrella. The purchase supports our strategy of growing in complementary sectors, strengthening our product offering and playing a broader role in the global supply chain," said Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO, DP World
"The steady expanding spreading of large sized container ships has made high-quality connections from the major hub terminals crucial to our customers, and Unifeeder is a leading logistics provider in this area, with a strong reputation in Europe," says Ahmed Bin Sulayem.
Unifeeder runs a tightly knitted network that connects more than 100 ports in North and Western Europe, the Mediterranean Sea (Including Northern Africa and the Middle East) and the Black Sea. The shipping company itself does not own any ships, but charters the roughly 60 container ships that keeps the network alive. Unifeeder transport 3,2 million TEU a year and offers multi modal door to door transport.
Unifeeder was established in 1977 and is headquartered in Aarhus. The company employs 400 people spread over offices in 25 countries.
