Another shipping company cut ties with Iran
Due to USA’s threatening sanctions against Iran, French shipping company CMA CMG has decided to pull the plug on their shipping routes to the country. Earlier this year in May, Maersk Line announced that they were stopping their operations in the country.
It is President Donald Trump's threats of reprisals against companies that deal with Iran that has lead to CMA CGM’s decidion of stopping their shipping operations.
"We are stopping our service in Iran due to the Trump administration. Our Chinese competitors are hesitating, maybe because they have a different relationship with Trump, but we are following the rules, "said CMA CGM's chief executive Rodolphe Saade at a press conference this weekend.
Iran's oil minister, Bijan Zanganeh, has previously stated that the United States has launched a trade war against the country. According to Reuter, some Iranian officials have threatened to block oil exports from the Gulf as a move of retaliation.
