The Ăr°express begins building new ferry
The board of the Ăr°express has lifted the finance restraints in the contract with Danish company Hvide Sande Shipyard A/S regarding the building of a new ferry. This means that a new ferry crossing on the Marstal-Rudk°bing route will now become a reality, the board reports in a press release.
Construction will start immediately and is expected to have the new ferry done in autumn 2019. Financing of the ferry and land facilities is mainly provided through loans by Denmarkĺs Green Investment Fund and Ringkj°bing Landbobank, and by drawing more than 1,250 public shares from investors at home and abroad.
"The new share plan, which began this month continues to remain strong. The Board of Directors encourages purchasing shares in Ăr°Xpressen A / S in order to strengthen the company's liquidity, "writes the board.
The new share plan was necessitated due to Langeland Municipality's refusal to fund a new quayside. The Ăr°Xpress has to come up with this money by itself, but the company is now so far in the process that the construction of the ferry is started.
The new ferry will be a hybrid with capacity for 200 passengers and around 30 cars.
The companys website www. aeroexpressen.dk allows people to buy shares.
