Sundbus Jeppe returns to Helsingør
14 years after the Sundbus Jeppe left the Helsingør-Helsingborg crossing, it now returns to its route to deliver a half an hour trip between the two cities. The Danish shipping line Sundbusserne has bought the ferry from Spar Shipping, and the purchase is at the same time the start of an extended partnership between the two shipping companies.
"From around August, we will focus on creating new opportunities for morning. We can adapt to surroundings and other means of transport in both Sundby’s and be flexible during the earliest departures. We hope that this will have a positive impact on commuting and business opportunities for recruiting employees on both sides of Sundby. We are part of different set-up's in the Øresund's cooperation and now we also want to get out there and the inform business community about the new possibilities the two ferries will bring, "says Hans Froholdt, from Sundbusser, to Newspaper Helsingør Dagblad.
Up till now, Spar Shipping has used Jeppe to sail between Copenhagen and Hven during summer. For the remainder of the year the ferry has been rented out for purposes such as events and parties.
MV Jeppe was built as a sundbus specifically for the Helsingør – Helsingborg crossing. It sailed the route for 30 years, from 1974 to 2004. The ferry can host up to 250 passengers.
It has not yet been revealed how much Sundbusserne has paid for Jeppe.
