Ørsted signs deal with Greater Changhua
Ørsted has signed a contract with CR Classification Society to develop a design for a structural passage for offshore substations for the Greater Changhua windmill project in Taiwan. The two partners signed a deal that entails cooperation in the project and support of the local certification functions in Taiwan.
"We are exited to optimize our local certification capability to world class standards with this cooperation, and hope this contract will create a solid foundation for our long-term partnership with Ørsted," said Chao, Kuo-Liang, chairman of the CR Classification Society.
According to Ørsted, the company has spent the last two months working with CR to give them an understanding of European knowledge of windmill projects and its dedicated DNV GL certification center, in order to develop professional standards with local certification institutions in Taiwan.
Phase one entails close cooperation between CR and DNV GL to succeed the structural review of the offshore substations design by the end of 2018. Ørsted expects to work with CR in other certification areas of the Greater Changhua projects.
