Focus on danish seamens Russian problems
Approving Danish Seamen’s maritime books in Russian ports has been an issue for a long period of time. This is one of the issues that Danish shipping company Danske Rederier focus on during a visit to Russia as part of a Danish delegation relating the settlement of the Danish-Russian Government Council.
“The challenges facing Danish shipping companies with the approval of maritime books in Russian ports have been an ongoing issue. We now have the opportunity to focus on the issue and find a preliminary solution with the help of the Russian authorities, "says Thomas Sylvest, executive consultant in Danish shipping companies.
The issue will be discussed during a meeting in the Transport Working Group in Moscow, where Danish shipping companies can layout their concerns and discuss important issues for Danish shipping. One of the other issues addressed at the Moscow meetings is a newly implemented Russian law that reserves large sums of Russian waters along the so-called "Northern Sea Route" to the Russian fleet.
"First of, we have some concerns regarding the new Russian legislation. The meetings in the transport working group and the Government Council are therefore perfect opportunities to discuss the new initiatives, and to create a mutual understanding within the industry about the scope and implementation of legislation, "says Thomas Sylvest.
