New lawyers in OW Bunker case
Numerous major investors, with ATP as the leading one, have hired the law firm DLA Piper to replace Bruun & Hjejle in the lawsuit against OW Bunker's former management. Pension funds have sued OW Bunker’s former management, the capital fund Altor and others for 833 million Danish Kroner.
Pension funds were forced to hire a new lawyer after the Atourney Board last year considered Bruun & Hjejle partner Karsten Kristoffersen to be an inappropriate choice in the case because the law firm had previously performed tasks for OW Bunker and the company's former CEO. Jim Pedersen.
ATP is however stating that they may keep Bruun & Hjejle as a lawyer in the part of the case, which does not directly concern the former management of OW Bunkers. This has happened after several of the defendants' attorneys tried to get Bruun & Hjejle entirely of the case.
ATP believe that it is merely an attempt to delay a court decision.
"We have spent a long time and money on Bruun & Hjejle getting to know the case, and we still believe they are good and proper lawyers to lead the case," says Tomas Krüger Andersen to Jyllands Posten.
