Dead victims from Sanchi identified
China has identified the three corpses that were found onboard the NITC suemax Sanchi. All of the 32 crew members onboard lost their lives, when the oil tanker burned after a collision on the coast of Shanghai on the January 6.
According to the Iranian news agency ISNA the three men have been identified as Milad Aravi, Majid Naqian and Mohammad Kavousi, all of them Iranian born citizens. The Iranian government is in the mist of trying to have the dead bodies handed over and sent back to their homeland.
The tanker was heading to Southkorea with 136.000 tons of condensate with an estimated value of 60 million USD. The tanker sank on January 14th, after the rescue crew had found the three corpses. The crew onboard Sanchi consisted of 30 Iranians and two from Bangladesh.
The voyage data recorder from the tanker and the CoscoCS bulker, which were involved in the collision have now both been opened. The maritime authorities of China, Panama, Iran and Hong Kong have made a deal which entails investigating the collision together
