Maersk invests in new digital trading platform
In the same way as several of its competitors, Maersk Line has decided to invest in the new digital platform New York Shipping Exchange (NYSHEX), becoming its third founding member. NYSHEX’s goal is to offer digitized and standardized freight contracts.
"Our investment in NYSHEX is another testament of our commitment to becoming a noticeable company in the digital transformation of the industry. This platform will help contribute to the development of our digital products and services and ultimately increase the customer experience, "says Maersk Line's chief of revenue management, Peter Hildebrandt.
Container shipping companies CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd became members of the new digital platform in the autumn of 2017, which also includes MOL, OOCL and Cosco.
"We are very happy that Maersk Line is now a founding member of NYSHEX. Maersk Line has pioneered many digital initiatives and we are excited to cooperate in digitizing the freight contract process and improve reliability issues, "said Gordon Downes, CEO of NYSHEX.
Maersk Line will begin its pilot trial on the platform in March this year.
