Maersk Drilling gets rig contract extended
Maersk Drilling has extended the contract on the jack-up rig Maersk Intrepid of Total E & P Norge AS. The rig has worked for Total at the Martin Linge field in the Norwegian part of the North Sea since 2014. The contract has now been extended by 196 days with the possibility of a further 61 days.
"It is very promising that we are able to ensure an extension of a long-term contract in a strategically important market. This contract is the result of a strong and long-term relationship with the Total customer, and it is an great example of our ambition to add long-term value to our customers. With this expansion we ensure that we work for the rig until the second quarter of 2019, "says Lars Østergaard, Chief Commercial Officer at Maersk Drilling.
The extension of the contract starts in September 2018 in direct continuation of the current contract and covers accommodation work for connection and commissioning of the Martin Linge production and potential drilling operations.
The contract extension with Total is one of the many new contracts and contract extensions that Maersk Drilling has done in recent months, and the company's contract coverage remains one of the best in the industry.
