Maersk-rig re-opens preceding fatal accident
Aker BP has reopened production at the Tambar Oil field on the coast of Norway. The production was shut down on the 7th of December as a result of an accident having occurred, which cost a man his life while another man was injured during maintenance work at Maersk’s Intercepter jackup rig.
The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway and the police are investigating the accident. Aker BP and Maersk Drilling also have their own investigation going on. Regarding production on the jackup rig, Aker BP will gradually resume to working well service activities and handle other tasks that do not interfere with the investigation of the accident at Maersk’s Interceptor.
As part of this being done, production at the Tambar oil field was re-opened this Tuesday.
