Rønne becomes service station for windpark
The Dutch company VBMS, who are to implement marine cables to Arkona Wind farm projects, have chosen Rønne havn as the service station for the many different ship types that are part of the job. The project starts in April next year and will be done in October.
”Last year we had short visits from VBMS, who got to see how service minded and flexible our organization as well as the other maritime business’ on the dock, actually are. That helped them see potential of the dock and our partnership,” says Ulla Kjersgaard, Chief of Maritime Service and Business development on the dock.
It was especially the neat infrastructure and the effective service, that made VBMS’s project manager Emile van der Heide choose Rønne Havn as the service station:
”When we were at stage one of our cable installation for the Arkona Offshore Wind Farm-project, we realised the logistic advances that Bornholm and especially Rønne has to offer. With good access to planes and ferries, access to accommodation and with a hospital nearby, Rønne was an easy choice to make. Our experience is that the people who manage the dock, BHS and Sydhavnens Motor shop, are willing to assist u son a very short notice – and in this industry reliability and service is very important,” says the Emilie van der Heide.
The Arkona Wind Farm project is located 21,7 North East of the German Rügen-halvø
