MHI Vestas opens factory in Esbjerg Harbor
MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has opened its latest production facility in Denmark as the company continues to increase its production capacity to meet strong demand for its V164 turbine platform. The platform is the world's most powerful wind turbine with an effect of up to 9.5 MWh.
"MHI Vestas is proud to be a major contributor to the development of prefabricated units and the establishment of competence centers throughout the region of Denmark. It's exciting to see the new facility in Esbjerg Harbor, as the next production phase in the company begins to take shape," says Chief Manufacturing Officer Robert Borin.
The facility must assemble Power Converter Modules (PCM) and production has already begun. With production in Esbjerg, it gives the company easier access to exploit the port in Esbjerg's expanding offshore wind expertise.
The announcement is the latest in a series of production expansion plans from MHI Vestas, as it increased the production capacity of the Isle of Wight in Great Britain in the autumn of 2016 and in Nakskov and LindÝ earlier in 2017.
