Blue Water gets contract for Horns Rev 3
Blue Water Shipping (BWS) has won the harbor logistics contract for Vattenfall's 400 MW Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm in the Danish North Sea. BWS will provide stewedoring, warehouse storage, terminal management, project agency and general logistics services for the project from Esbjerg Port.
"We have worked with Vattenfall on several projects and look forward to continuing the good cooperation we have built. For Horns Rev 3, our experienced employees will deliver many of our core services and ensure a high-quality level and secure operations throughout the project. Horns Rev 3 means a lot for local businesses in Esbjerg, and it is also important for us to be a part of it," says Klaus Odby, Head of the Port Department at Blue Water.
Last April, Blue Water transported and stored the transformer units for Horns Rev 3 to Esbjerg harbor and assisted with loading, transport and installation of the units in June 2016.
Horns Rev 3 will consist of 49 MHI Vestas 8 MW turbines optimized for 8.3 MW. The wind turbine installation is scheduled to start in the summer of 2018, where the work will be carried out by the A2SEA vessel Sea Installer.
Horns Rev 3, which is expected to be operational in 2018, will be the largest wind farm in Danish waters.
