Innogy has chosen MHI Vestas to be the preferred supplier of their 9.5 MW turbines for the 860 MW Triton Knoll wind farm in the British part of the North Sea. Developer and Partner Statkraft will use 90 of the upgraded V164 turbines, which is the world's most powerful.

"MHI Vestas is central to our business plan, which aims to deliver at least 50 British content throughout the entire lifespan of the project, while providing significant value for UK and energy consumers from the delivery of our wind farm," says James Cotter, Project Director.

The agreement is at the preferred supplier stage, which means "The wind turbine project will now work with MHI Vestas to maximize and build on the manufacturer's already strong British connections.

A financial investment decision regarding the Triton Knoll project is expected to be in place in 2018 with construction start shortly after. Work at sea starts in 2020. It is expected that the first power from the wind farm can be produced by mid-2021.
