Milestone reached in Hornsea Project One
Last week, a milestone was reached in DONG Energy's Hornsea Project One when the helicopter deck was installed on the first of the total three transformer stations. It is Bladt Industries, headquartered in Aalborg, which will supply transformer stations to the world's largest wind farm
It is the first time in Bladt Industries' history that a contract for three transformer stations has been signed at the same time. The weight of each transformer station will be 2,800 tons.
Bladt Industries is responsible for the construction of steel structures for all three transformer stations.
Hornsea Project One Offshore Wind Farm is 120 kilometers from Yorkshires Coast in the British North Sea and covers an area of 407 square kilometers. The offshore wind farm will consist of 174 Siemens 7 MW turbines and, when fully operational by 2020, will be the world's largest wind farm.
