Havyard Group has confirmed that a contract has been signed on the fifth Service Operation Vessel (SOV) commissioned by Esvagt, which will be chartered by MHI Vestas Offshore Wind for a period of 15 years to service the Deutsche Bucht wind farm (DeBu) in Germany.

"When we sign another contract for this design, it confirms that we have succeeded in creating a design that meets expectations," says design manager Arve Helsem Leine at Havyard.

The contract has a value of more than NOK 70 million, approximately 7,6 million euros. The agreement includes construction and equipment, which will be provided by the Zamakona yard in Bilbao, Spain. Work on the design and equipment package will start immediately and the vessel will be delivered in August 2019.

It will be the seventh vessel that Havyard supplies to Esvagt, headquartered in Esbjerg, Denmark. The previous six orders include four sea-going service vessels, a platform supply vessel and a crew vessel.

The DeBu SOV is equipped with a walk-to-work ladder system in a tailored tower with a crane located on top of the tower, which together with Esvagts Safe Transfer Boats STB 7 and STB 12 will contribute to the safe transfer of technicians, tools and spare parts.

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind entered a firm and unconditional order for the Deutsche Bucht wind farm last Friday. The company will supply 31 V164-8.0 MW wind turbines to the park, as well as a long-term full-scope service package.
