Cruise ships create profit for Copenhagen
More and more cruise tourists start or end their cruise in Copenhagen, providing six times as much money in the box as transit stays. This is shown in a new analysis from Cruise Copenhagen.
Cruise tourism is quite visible in the accounts in Copenhagen - and revenues rise. This is due to the fact that more and more tourists choose to start or end their cruise in Denmark's capital. And the city earns an average of DKK 2,400, while a stop-over just gives DKK 400 kr.
Cruise Copenhagen therefore lobbies around the world to get more people to use Copenhagen as a starting or finishing destination.
"We are attending fairs, visiting travel agencies and shipping companies to make Copenhagen even more attractive as starting and finishing destination," says Claus Bødker, cruise manager in Cruise Copenhagen, according to dr.dk.
Revenues from cruise tourism in Copenhagen amounted to DKK 1.2 billion last year, according to Cruise Copenhagen.
