European Maritime Day is one of the largest maritime conferences in Europe with more than 1,000 participants. The EU Council of Ministers has assigned Denmark to be host in 2024. The conference will take place in Svendborg. This is the first time it is held in Denmark.

"It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Svendborg is hosting the European Maritime Day. We have worked intensively to get the conference to Denmark, and Svendborg is ideally located for a conference focusing on further development of a robust maritime sector that is of great importance for Denmark," says Minister of Industry, Brian Mikkelsen.

The conference brings together a thousand maritime experts, decision-makers and business representatives for two days of maritime conference. The purpose is to focus on the importance of maritime economic activity. The conference also allows participants to profile activities and actions and discuss common opportunities and challenges in the sector.

"The conference is a unique opportunity to showcase the Danish strength position in the maritime area. Denmark has incredibly much to offer - even when we need to develop common visions for the future maritime sector," says Brian Mikkelsen.

The conference was held for the first time in 2008. Earlier, cities such as Brussels, Rome and Gothenburg have been host cities. The Ministry of Business has entered a partnership with Svendborg Municipality about the realization of Denmark being the host.
