MHI Vestas expands production in Esbjerg
Large demand for MHI Vestas' 8 MW turbine has brought the company to expand the production facilities at Esbjerg Harbor with 5,600 square meters. The facilities must produce Power Converter Modules (PCM) exclusively for MHI Vestas.
"Since MHI Vestas has brought V164 - 8.0 MW turbine onto the offshore wind market, we have experienced an extraordinary demand for the platform as expected. Next phase of our production plan requires recruitment for wing production in Nakskov, nacelle production in LindÝ and Power Converter Modules (PCM) in Esbjerg Harbor. PCM modules will be assembled in Esbjerg from Q4 2017," says MHI Vestas Chief Manufacturing Officer.
In the same way that MHI Vestas increased production staff on the Isle of Wight in Great Britain this fall and will continue with more employment in Nakskov and LindÝ during the spring and summer of this year, the company is also preparing for more employment in Esbjerg.
Esbjerg Harbor has publicly offered the development of a state-of-the-art 5,600 square meter facility to accommodate the PCM assembly for MHI Vestas. The high technology facility will create a dedicated area for PCM assembly close to the pre-assembly, and will enable the company to further utilize Esbjerg Harbor's expanding offshore wind expertise.
