Blue Water behind new offshore-equipment for offshore wind turbines
Mobilization for the construction of the Tahkoluoto Offshore wind farm in Finland has begun. Blue Water Shipping has delivered three reach stackers, which can lift items from 65 to 100 tons, a truck and a specially designed trolley to transport the 63-meter-long wings.
The trolley is designed by Blue Waters own engine division to facilitate the handling of the wings on the dock. Thus, the customer also avoids hiring extra equipment and employees for the smaller tasks where the wings are to be moved on the dock.
One of Blue Waters own project managers is present and serves as a link between Suomen Hyötytuuli OY, who is responsible for the construction of the wind turbine park, and Siemens, who supplies the turbines. During the four-month project, Blue Water also provides terminal assistants.
The Tahkoluoto wind farm is built off the coast at the Finnish town of Pori. It is the first wind turbine park designed for an icy environment. A total of ten Siemens 4.2 MW turbines will be installed.
