Shipmaster program in Skagen has been approved
Skagen Skipperskole has now received the final approval of its shipmaster's degree program, and from this date it can be called Navigation School. The approval came in after a long process, several audits and a well-completed trial year in 2016.
"It's the first time ever that we have a navigation school in North Jutland, and a significant milestone in maritime Denmark is thus a reality," the school wrote in a message.
"We are proud that the shipmaster’s program is now a reality, and we can offer prospective navigation training for commercial and fishing vessels in North Jutland. Skagen Skipperskole's board of directors and management focuses on the fact that the shipmaster's program in the portfolio adds further quality and respect for all Skagen Skipperskole’s education programs," he says.
Currently, 26 students attend the shipmaster program at the school. Skagen Skipperskole is already in the process of putting together the next team, that will commence the education in January 2018.
The master's program is offered in close cooperation with MARTEC in Frederikshavn.
