Lars Thrane is back with new product
Lars Thrane A/S presents the company's first satellite communications terminal at the SEA Asia exhibition in Singapore. Thus, the former founder of Thrane&Thrane re-launched within a field where he became so successful that his old company was exposed to hostile takeover.
Lars Thrane's new product - LT-3100 Iridium Communications System - is designed for the professional maritime industry and will be on the market this summer. With his new product, Lars Thrane moves into a market known to him, where his old company was successful.
His company, Lars Thrane A/S, was formed in the summer of 2014 shortly before his competition clause with CobhamSatcom expired. It was Cobham, who in 2012 forced Lars Thrane away from his life’s work through a hostile acquisition.
The LT-3100 consists of a control unit, a handheld device and an antenna and has a 100-pct. global reach thanks to the use of the Iridium satellites. The system supports data, voice and SMS and includes a high performance GNSS/GPS receiver, which is used for ship tracking.
