Vestas secure huge order in the Netherlands
MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has signed a conditional agreement for the supply of two offshore projects totaling 680 MW in the Netherlands. Borssele III & IV are, respectively, at 330 MW and 350 MW. It is not known what type of turbines will be used.
"MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has signed a conditional agreement for the offshore projects Borssele III and IV in the Netherlands. The projects will be delivered by MHI Vestas Offshore Wind and will not be included in Vestas Wind Systems A/S 'order book," writes Vestas Wind Systems A/S in a stock exchange announcement.
A consortium consisting of Shell, Eneco, Van Oord and Diamond Generating Europe (a 100% owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation) won the bidding round for the two wind farms with a price of 5,45 eurocents per kilowatt-hour in December 2016.
The consortium revealed that the preferred supplier of wind turbines for Borssele III & IV were MHI Vestas Offshore Wind. The parks are expected completed in 2020.
"If and when the projects result in a firm and unconditional order, Vestas will make a company announcement," Vestas wrote in the message.
