Norwegian offshore company rehire 300
The supply company Island Offshore rehires 300 employees who were laid off. Now several of the company's vessels can look forward to receiving jobs as a number of vessels that otherwise were obvious choices, have recently received contracts so that they can come into operation once again.
"This is a huge upturn for us as a shipping company. If this is not the start of a recovery in the industry, it is certainly a big step forward for us as a company ", says Håvard Ulstein, Island Offshore in a statement.
The company rehires the 300 employees, because it has been awarded several important contracts in recent weeks. Thus, Island Spirit, Island Crusader, Island Crown, and Island Endeavour will be out on assignments.
In October last year, the company had to decommission seven new ships, that couldn't find any work. In this context, 330 employees were laid off. The supply vessel Island Dutchess is still decommissioned.
