On Wednesday, Danish wind farms produced enough electricity to cover 104 percent of the country's energy consumption. Thereby, Denmark tops the list of countries with the highest proportion of energy from offshore wind on a windy day in Europe.

On Wednesday, all of Europe's offshore wind turbines produced 218 GWh. And it's a great record, says Wind Europe, according to the media Offshore Wind.
Overall, 18,8 percent of Europe's electricity consumption was covered by wind power on Wednesday, if production from both onshore as offshore wind turbines counts.

And Denmark claimed first place among countries with wind farms. The Danish turbines produced 98 GWh energy on Wednesday, which thus corresponded to 104 percent of our total consumption.

Germany came in second place with 52 percent of consumption covered by wind turbines and also beat the country's own record for wind-generated power on the day that ended at 817 GWh.

In the UK, 168 Gwh was reached, enough to cover 19 percent of energy consumption, while the Dutch generated 72 GWh, representing 22 percent of their daily energy consumption.
