BWS provide services to new DFDS service

06-08-2020 12:00:00

DFDS has started calling at Frederikshavn in Denmark on their service between Oslo, Norway and Copenhagen, Denmark. This new initiative was subject to intense attention from both the local media and the Mayor of Frederikshavn. Blue Water is responsible for the operational part in connection with the two ferries’ port calls in Frederikshavn.

DFDS’ two ferries “Pearl Seaways” and “Crown Seaways” are sailing on this service with daily departure from Copenhagen and Oslo. The ferries will now sail via Frederikshavn on both departures.

“In Frederikshavn, Blue Water will be responsible for the operational part such as check-in of passengers, cars and trucks, car marshalling, cargo handling and line handling. Blue Water was awarded the contract at very short notice, and consequently prompt action was needed. The daily operation has required intense training of our own staff, who are now a permanent part of the ferry terminal in Frederikshavn”, says Mathias Sondergaard from Blue Water’s Port Service division, who is supplemented by his colleague Soren Stougaard:

“The cooperation between DFDS and Blue Water for the initial operation of the ferry terminal has been smooth despite the short notice. And we are proud to have been appointed DFDS’ partner in Frederikshavn as well”.

The new service has received a warm welcome in both Denmark and Norway and shows a satisfactory volume of freight as well as of passengers.
