JD-Contractor welcomes Assister

27-03-2019 12:00:00

By the end of 2018 JD-Contractors A/S’s sister company JD Crafts A/S purchased the vessel Maersk Assister from Maersk Supply Services. The vessel has been renamed “Assister” and will be operated commercially by JD-Contractor A/S.

After using the first months of the new year to overhaul all equipment and machinery, the vessel was docked in the beginning of March for its main survey, repaint and overhaul of thrusters etc. This week a changed vessel emerged from the dock to begin its new duties, operating as a part of the JD-Contractor fleet.

With its large accommodation, 280-ts bollard pull and 250 ts. Lifting capacity, the “Assister” enables JD-Contractor to take on larger and more complex installation and service assignments with group resources, and, moreover, going forward the Company is able to bid for assignments with less exposure to the risk of increases to the external shipping rates.

The next couple of weeks the Assister will be made ready for operation by her new crew, and after DP trials etc. the vessel will sail to the UK to have its 250-ts A-frame re-installed.

The vessel is expected to be ready to service both for the Renewables as well as the oil & Gas sector in the beginning of May. Assister is uniquely designed for a variety of work roles including deep water anchor handling and offshore cable installations, towing subsea plough systems, subsea and ROV support work, mooring operations, the towing of rigs as well as general supply and cargo support operations. This specialized vessel has a high operational criteria, optimal safety conditions and state-of-the-art equipment to achieve its goals in a professional and cost-effective manner.
