On late Monday night a fire broke out onboard a ship that was docked in Grenaa that was waiting to be scrapped. At first the police department sent a police car to the port, but shortly after the communal emergency and safety department took over and have been fighting the fire the entire night.

“The ship in question was at the port waiting to be scrapped, and some how a fire broke out on the ship. We have been at the scene to patrol. The fire department had the situation under control, so there was no need for the police at the location of the incident” says East Jutland's police commissioner, Christian Riis to TV2 Østjylland.

According to East Jutland’s police department, the fire was luckily unable to spread to any nearby ships and building. There has been no information regarding casualties. The fire has not yet been put out completely. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
