Royal Arctic Line orders two new ships

20-02-2019 12:00:00

Royal Arctic Line, RAL, has returned to Havyard Design & Solutions to have another two ships designed which will be build at Nodosa Shipyard. The two ships are smaller than the two ships Royal Arctic Line ordered from Havyard last summer.

“These two ships are important to our strategy of renewing older vessels and not least for the infrastructure in Greenland” says Senior Director of RAL, Anders Bay Larsen.

Royal Arctic are going to use the ships for shipping of supply food supplies and other important goods to villages that cannot be accesed by road in Northwest Greenland. The ships are build to operate under harsh conditions, sail during low tides and to meet ice class requirements.

The first ship is scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2020, while the second will be delivered a couple months after.
