New maritime internship portal launched

24-01-2019 12:00:00

Danske Rederier’s new internship portal ‘Blue Internship’ will be launched today during a sparring forum at the Fredericia School of Marine Engineering. At the forum, Danske Rederier’s internship coordinator, Anne Panknin Kristensen, will present and demonstrate how the portal works.

“We are exited about launching the new maritime internship portal, Blue Internship, which can help bridge students and apprentices needs for internships and the shipping companies' need for students and apprentices. The internship portal offers the opportunity to show the different types of internships The Blue Denmark has to offer,” says Anne Panknin Kristensen.

Blue Internship will function as an easy and comprehensible platform. It offers shipping companies the chance to advertise their internships. At the same time it offers students who are seeking a maritime related internship the chance to see the various internships available to them.

Educational institutions will also have to access the portal which will give them a better overview of which shipping companies offer internships. By being aware of demands, they will be able to provide better guidance when dealing with internship applications.

“Maritime educational institutions also have access to the portal which means that they can provide support for internship applications. Here at Blue Internship, we are especially proud of having created a guidance module that enables maritime schools to follow students during their internship, and guide students through their educations in an easier way” says Anne Panknin Kristensen.

The new internship portal will support the work of coordinating the internship guarantee's of 350 full-time internships a year. This task was undertaken by Danske Rederier's newly established internship office in May 2018, and the portal is part of the task.

In October 2018 Danske Rederier’s internship department received a donation from the Danish Maritime Fund earmarked for creating a maritime internship portal.

Educational institutions and shipping companies will be the first to have access to Blue Internship. Students will be able to access the portal from February 1 2019.
