MHI Vestas receives unusual order

08-11-2018 12:00:00

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind and Parkwind has confirmed an order that involves delivering and installing 23 V164-9.5 MW windmills to the Northwester 2 offshore wind farm located of the coast of Belgium. The installation process is planned to start in the end of 2019.

Northwester 2 in Belgium will be the first offshore wind farm to use V164-9.5 MW windmills from MHI Vestas. Parkwind estimates that the MW-project will lead to more than 1.000 direct and indirect jobs during the building faze and 100 long-term jobs of operation and maintenance.

The confirmed order, which follows an economic acceptance of the project that was obtained on October 5, includes a 15-year service agreement for MHI Vestas. The order is part of the Belgian Government's preparation for further offshore wind farm capacity of up to 4 GW by 2025.

The offshore wind farm is scheduled to be operating by 2020.
