Maersk containership sets new world record

Mumbai Maersk just broke the record for highest number of filled containers onboard a single container ship. The container ship departed Tanjung Pelepas Port in Malaysia with 19.038 TEU onboard – which is the new world record.

Prior to this, another Maersk ship, Madison Maersk, was the record holder as the vessel brought a shipment of 18.215 TEU onboard back in 2015.

Mumbai Maersk is a second generation Triple-E ship, and has a nominal capacity of 20.568 TEU. The container ship operates Maersk Line’s AE5 route between Asia and Europe.

Mumbai Maersk is expected to arrive in Rotterdam on September 5.
