Celsius buys Kirk Kapitals tanker ships

The Danish shipping company Celsius Shipping has bought four tankers from Kirk Kapital, which means that the company no longer has any connection with shipping. Kirk sold two other tankers to the Danish shipowner company Norden last month. Kirk Kapital, the owner of the Lego family, lost 224 million Danish kroner last year on its shipping activities.

The four tankers that will be taken over by Celsius Shipping are according to Tradewinds Gunhild Kirk (50.000 DWT), Christina Kirk (53.000 DWT), Marie Kirk and Edith Kirk (both 37.200 DWT).

With the purchase of the four tankers Celcius reaches a new segment and increases its fleet from the current 34 to 38 ships.

Celcius Shipping was founded by Jeppe Jensen in 2013, and has so far dealt with container ships, dry cargo, LPG and chemical tenkers.

Neither Celcius Shipping nor Kirk Kapital wished to comment on the case to Tradewinds.
