With the donation of five million Danish kroner from A.P. Møller and wife Chastine Mc-Kinney Møllers Foundation for regular purposes, EUC Nord are one step closer to towards obtaining the finances needed to build a maritime learning environment in Frederikshavn.

"With a donation of 5 million Danish kroner from the A.P. Møller Foundation, we have come closer towards the dream of a nice and ambitious maritime learning environment in Frederikshavn, where electricians, ship drivers, smiths and ship mechanics can educate themselves in an optimal learning environment, both in the field of youth education and further education. It will be a center for maritime education from all over Denmark, maybe even all of Scandinavia," says Hans Ulrik Møller, Head of Education at EUC Nord

The financial requirements for building a place like this add up to 10 million, and along with an earlier donation from Den Danske Maritime Fond, which was also a substantial donation in the millions, EUC Nord is closer towards making a reality of their ambitious plans of building a maritime learning environment that benefits maritime education programs all across Denmark.

EUC Nord has reached out to multiple Danish funds, and Hans Ulrik Møller expects to receive their answers within a month. The Head of Education is very optimistic about this.

The maritime learning environment consists of a three-storey shiphouse with an engine room, control deck and a bridge with electronic equipment. The tower will be placed in the shipbuilding hall at EUC Nord on Hånbækvej in Frederikshavn. It will form the framework for workshop training on maritime education.
