Rumors of Maersk Tankers' sale of an LR2

Rumors of Maersk Tankers' sale of an LR2

27-02-2018 09:00:00

It has been reported that Maersk Tankers has sold one of their older LR2's for a good price. According to shipbrokers, the specifics of the tanker and the fast sale was inline with the buyers wishes, and seems to have had an impact on the price.

Shipbrokers have reported that Maersk Privilegde of 105.500 DWT, build in 2003, has been sold for 12,5 Million USD

Several shipbrokers believe that WInson Oil is the buyers of the Sumutomo build ship. According to TradeWinds, neither Maersk nor Winson Oil has responded to the rumors of the sale.

Winsons need the ship for an understanable project and the lack of similar tonnage on the market had an mpact on the good price they paid, shipbrokers believe.

Maersk Tankers is one of the largest shipping companies in the product sector. According to VesselsValue, the company has 14 LR2 and aframax ships in the sea and six more in order.

Maersk Tanker's fleet list has registered the ship as an aframax and the vessel sailing with Singapore's flag is still listed as part of the fleet.
