New Head of Naval Staff

Flotille Admiral Torben Mikkelsen has been appointed Rear Admiral and will be the head of the Navy Staff in the Defense Command from June 1, 2017. Torben Mikkelsen is 54 years old and comes from a position as head of the Naval Tactical Staff.

Previously, Torben Mikkelsen has been the head of 2nd Eskadre, and has been in charge of picking up chemical substances from Syria (OPRECSYR) and Libya (OPRECLIB), respectively.

Torben Mikkelsen replaces Rear Admiral Frank Trojahn, who resigns to take the position as head of the Development and Coordination Staff in the Defense Command on June 1, 2017.
