Growth recommendations up for debate

Growth recommendations up for debate

06-04-2017 15:15:00

On April 21, the maritime growth team reveals a number of recommendations to create new growth in the Blue Denmark. The Danish Shipowners' Association and Danish Maritime invites to an after-hours meeting that day with several of the growth team members.

"The growth team has worked hard to come up with ambitious and relevant recommendations. Those I look forward to discussing, so we can have them translated into action, which I look forward to get started on April 21 in the afternoon," said a member of the growth team, Claus Jensen, Chairman of the Danish Metalworkers, who's participating in the meeting.

In May 2016, the then Business and Growth Minister Troels Lund Poulsen launched a marine growth team with Jesper Lok at the helm. After Easter, the growth team will present its recommendations, which will be input to the future political process in the maritime field.

Another member of the growth team, who is also attending the meeting held in the Danish Shipowners' Association premises in Amaliegade on April 21, is Mikael Skov, CEO of Hafnia Tankers. For him it is important that the growth team's recommendations are translated into political action.

"It is important for the shipping industry that the Danish framework conditions are constantly kept up against our global competitors, there is no room to lift the foot off the gas either commercially or politically. Therefore, the growth team's recommendations and the political follow-up is key when they will be presented in a few weeks," says Mikael Skov.

Thomas S. Knudsen, CEO of MAN Diesel & Turbo, is the third member of the growth team participating in the after-hours meeting. He is one of several representatives of the maritime industry with equipment and service suppliers and shipyards.

At the meeting on April 21, the two organizers; the Danish Shipowners' Association and the Danish Maritime, will give their overall views on the recommendations. It will be in the form of posts from director Jakob Ullegård, the Danish Shipowners' Association and Managing Director Jenny N. Braat, Danish Maritime.

The event is held in Amaliegade 33 from 14:30 to 15:45, and registration is required. The Danish Shipowners' Association will be hosting so the recommendations can be discussed in a little more informal setting.
