TORM is looking for an ambitious Bunker Purchaser to join our Bunker Purchase Department in Copenhagen. The position offers a unique opportunity for career development in a world-class shipping company operating a fleet of 80 product tanker vessels in all our segments: Handy, MR, LR1 and LR2.
Reporting to the Head of Bunker Purchase, the successful candidate will be responsible for negotiating and purchasing bunker fuel for all the vessels operated by TORM worldwide. This is done in co-operation with a team of 3 colleagues.
An important part of the job is to make sure that all parameters have been considered in the negotiation process (timing, forward curves, financial- and credit terms, etc.) and to analyze market data both for optimization and benchmarking purpose together with our colleagues in the Operations and Chartering Department.
Furthermore, responsibilities include:
- Daily bunker market assessment
- Keeping up-to-date on bunker related issues, legislation, etc.
- Handling bunker disputes and claims, advising and coordinating with the Operations Department and our Vessel Management team
- Pursuing new business opportunities in the bunker market
- Checking and approval of invoices
You have a shipping related background such as operational tanker experience or experience from either purchasing/selling marine bunker fuel or similar.
Excellent negotiation skills and a result-oriented approach are vital to fulfil both the company’s strategic ambitions and excel as a Bunker Purchaser. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, often needing to handle several deals and tasks at once and you will be expected to profitably use your market knowledge.
Furthermore, you have/are:
- A natural commercial flair and high standards for performance and quality
- A customer focused and a result-oriented approach
- Coping well under pressure and are enthusiastic
- Strong communication skills and fluent in oral and written English
- Bunker purchaser experience from a product tanker owner is an advantage, but not a requirement
- Profiles with different levels of experience, will be taken into consideration.
