Politicians meeting in Skagen

Politicians meeting in Skagen

17-01-2017 12:00:00

On Sunday and Monday, a number of Mps met in Skagen with port director Willy Hansen and FF Skagen chairman Jens Borup. The meeting on Sunday evening took place in very informal settings over dinner. The issues discussed included road links to the port.

"Skagen is a good example of how economic growth is feasible in Denmark if politicians provide the right framework. Here it is important that the infrastructure does not inhibit growth, but rather promotes it," said Venstre's transport rapporteur Kristian Pihl Lorentzen.

Kristian Pihl Lorentzen is one of the heavyweights among transport rapporteurs at Christiansborg and is therefore a key player for the enlargement of the narrow road between Aalbæk and Skagen becoming a reality, so the requested asphalt goes all the way to Skagen.

"I am very positive about the desire for an extension of Aalbæk-Skagen road. The money have to be there of course, but it's certainly an approach that we should look into in the circle of transport rapporteurs", said the transport rapporteur.

The Mps also discussed how the fishing industry can create even more value to their products if fish oil can be approved for human use in the future. Most of these kinds of supplements are imported from South America, although the products of Skagen are high quality. Right now the rules are creating a roadblock.
