Floating dock triggers an Initiative Award

12-12-2016 12:00:00

Today, Thyborøn Harbour presents the winner of the 15th Initiative Award. This year's recipient is Thyborøn Shipyard and the two parent companies Kynde & Toft and Thyborøn Ship & Engine. The award is given for "The plan to create floating dock facilities in Thyborøn Harbour"

"Kynde and Toft and Thyborøn Ship & Motor have not only presented a great initiative and shown willingness to invest. The two companies have also been extremely competent and committed partners in finding solutions to all the challenges that had to be solved in a short time for the project to succeed," says the Director of Thyborøn Harbour Jesper Holt Jensen.

Kynde and Toft and Thyborøn Ship & Engine are two major maritime enterprises at the harbor, which not only works locally but has broad contact and relationships with the maritime sector both nationally and internationally. In 2015, the two companies took the initiative to invest in a floating dock and bring it home from Gothenburg.

The floating dock arrived in July 2015 to Thyborøn and through exemplary cooperation between the organizers and Thyborøn, the floating dock was inaugurated and put into service in a new harbor basin in May this year, which was planned and built in less than a year.

Who wins the award is decided by a committee of four people with knowledge of both the business community, the harbor and the fishing industry. The choice of winner this year was easy because all four had a single candidate for the award.

"The Committee was not in doubt. Even though much is happening in Thyborøn in recent years with many positive initiatives and stories, the initiative to bring the floating dock to Thyborøn is definitely the largest single initiative which shows a willingness and courage to invest out of the ordinary,” said Jesper Holt Jensen.

The award ceremony will take place in the Red Hall in Thyborøn today.
