The renowned Norwegian maritime magazine - Skipsrevyen - has recently named Ship of the Year 2016 at the SMM trade fair in Hamburg. The title went to the innovative Norwegian hybrid ferry, Vision of The Fjords, which Maritime Denmark's readers already know about through articles in our magazines.

The award was presented by State Secretary at the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, Ms. Dilek Ayhan, and was received by the ship's owner, designer and field yard (see photo above).

Vision of the Fjords resembles no other ship. Beautiful, sharp lines and materials kept completely in black, white and stainless steel make the ship unusually harmonious to look at.

The architect of the beautiful and innovative design is Torstein Aa, graphic designer and third generation of brothers Aa, the family behind the shipyard that built the ship.

The technique below deck is as advanced as the beautiful lines of the water. Technically, there is talk about a hybrid ferry, since the energy needed to propel both can be from both diesel engines and battery packs.
