The Blue Denmark on Folkemødet

10-06-2015 08:00:00

Christopher Arzrouni, Børsens debate editor, focuses on the Blue Denmark's present and future. The debate "Can the Blue Denmark deliver growth?" will be held on Friday 12 June at 11:45 to 12:45 in Strandvejens Meeting Tent - Danchells Facility (A44) on Folkemødet in Allinge, Bornholm.

Both the government and opposition have appointed shipping and maritime Denmark as a national important growth area. But can the Blue Denmark deliver growth in a time of increased environmental regulation, falling oil prices, falling freight rates and fierce international competition? Is there actually any growth potential in Danish shipping, Danish ports and development and production of marine equipment?

On Folkemødet 2015, the press' best debater, Børsens debate editor Christopher Arzrouni, will "grill" the directors of the three maritime trade associations, the Danish Shipowners Association, Danish Ports and Danish Maritime.

Anne H. Steffensen from the Danish Shipowners Association, Gitte Lillelund Bech from the Danish Ports and Jenny N. breakers from the Danish Maritime are looking forward to crossing swords with Christopher Arzrouni and promise an interesting and entertaining event.

Danish Shipowners Association also focuses on two topical issues: refugees and the scrapping of ships in two separate debates during this year's Folkemøde.

Thursday, June 11 at 16:00, Maria Bruun Skipper, vice president of the Danish Shipowners Assciation will debate on the topic: ”How do we scrap ships without harming people and the environment?". And on Friday, June 12 at 13:00, the adm. director of the Danish Shipowners Association Anne H. Steffensen will be answering "How do we solve the refugee disaster in the Mediterranean?". Both debates are in the Strandvejens Meeting Tent - Danchells Facility (A44).

The Blue Denmark's events at Folkemødet are supported by the Danish Maritime Fund.
