Danish despatched soldiers comemorated

04-09-2014 16:00:00

On September 5th, it is the official Flag Day for the Danish despatchers. On Flag Day they are recognized for their efforts and sacrifices they have made for Denmark. This is the sixth time Flag Day is being held.

"Flag Day is a good opportunity to express our appreciation for the Danish soldier’s efforts in some of the world's conflict zones. Concerning the Navy, ever since Olfert Fisher was inserted in the first Gulf War in 1990, we have been requested several times. Within the last year alone, the Navy has had about 1070 soldiers deployed in international operations. However, most of them have been dispatched several times during the period. They and many other veterans deserve to be honored" says Frank Trojahn, Chief of the Naval Operations Command.

The official celebration of the dispatched begins Friday morning with the placing of wreath at The Monument of the Danish International Effort, in Copenhagen.
